To enjoy and feel the Alentejo nothing better than to delight with the local gastronomy and explore all the culture that the region has to offer. O Monte do Alhinho is located between the historic town of Mértola and the village of Mina de São Domingos, being the starting point for the discovery of the multiple places that we invite you to visit. In Mértola, lose yourself in the museum village streets, visit the remains of Roman and Islamic cultures, visit the Castle and the Church, the Museum Centre, among other points of interest. Step back in time by visiting also the Mining Museum in Mina de São Domingos, as well as the old mining complex ruins. Be sure to make a stop on the river beach, a true oasis in the Alentejo countryside. Following the railway, is still possible to visit a picturesque village located on the left bank of the Guadiana river called Pomarão, once an important mining port and nowadays the border with neighboring Spain.
